CPA Australia, along with other organisations have come together to host this virtual panel session, assembling a stellar group of speakers, to inform you on the current development, policies and opportunities across the key cities and zones within the Greater Bay Area.

Mr Adam Kwok

Adam Kwok is the Executive Director and a member of the Executive Committee of Sun Hung Kai Properties. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He worked in an international investment bank prior to joining Sun Hung Kai Properties, and has substantial experience in corporate finance. He is currently responsible for the planning, development and management of residential and commercial projects in Hong Kong and mainland China. Since April 2013, he has taken up the overall responsibilities for the property business in Southern China.

In addition, Adam Kwok is a vice-president of The Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong, a member of the Major Sports Events Committee, a member of the International Advisory Council of the Faculty of Business and Economics of The University of Hong Kong, an advisor of Our Hong Kong Foundation and a president of Hong Kong United Youth Association. He is also a standing committee member of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, a co-founder and deputy chairman of Hong Kong Guangdong Youth Association, a standing committee member of All-China Youth Federation, a member of the chairman’s committee of Friends of Hong Kong Association Development Foundation and a vice-chairman of Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation.

Wilson has been working in KPMG over 15 years and he is currently the Senior Partner of Advisory, Southern China and the Head of Portfolio Solutions Group, China & Asia Pacific. He specialises in all kinds of advisory services, particularly in non-performing loans (NPLs), corporate restructuring and corporate reform. He also leads the State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) & Government sector within the Southern China, KPMG. Wilson is the Board Member of KPMG Foundation promoting their CSR works into the community, which they recently announced that Wilson is set to be the National Leader of Our Impact Plan from 1 October 2022.  

Prior to rejoin KPMG in 2012, Wilson was the Head of China, Special Opportunity Fund & Senior Investment Professional – The Rohatyn Group, a US Private Equity Fund. He was also the Director of Citigroup’s Global Special Situation Group specialising in the acquisition and management of distressed assets, NPLs portfolios, pre-IPO and growth equity. Since June 2018, Wilson has been invited by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to join their Monetary and Capital Market’s Roster of Expert, to give professional lectures on his knowledge of bank’s non-performing loan and state-owned enterprise’s reform and restructuring.

Wilson has several public roles including the CPPCC’s Senior Member of Dongguan Municipal City, China, the Divisional Councillor and the Deputy Chairman of Greater Bay Areas Committee of CPA Australia (Greater China), the Director of Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Guangdong, the Vice President of Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Shenzhen Qianhai, the Deputy Chairperson of the Dongguan City Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, the Supervision Committee Member of Shenzhen Mangrove Wetlands Conservation Foundation and the Lecturer of the Central University of Finance and Economics for MBA and Master Program.    

Ms Rebecca Wong FCPA (Aust.)

Rebecca is a China tax partner of PwC China. She has been working in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen for more than 20 years and is knowledgeable in advising clients on cross-border tax and business matters. Rebecca is familiar with China tax, foreign exchange and business regulatory issues. She has extensive experiences in providing practical solutions to deal with dynamic business issues. Her expertise includes advices on tax effective structure; tax compliance assistance; M&A tax due diligence review and post-deal integration; pre-IPO restructuring advices; application of tax incentives; resolving tax disputes; repatriation of funds and cross-border e-commerce etc. 
 
Rebecca is a guest speaker in many public events. She has also participated in various policy draft discussions in the areas of tax and economic developments, especially relating to Greater Bay Area and free trade zone policies, as well as business environment. 

Mr Stephen Law

Stephen Law is the Managing Director of ANS Capital Limited, with a focus on investment and corporate finance. He is a SFC Type 9 (asset management) RO. He was previously the Finance Director of MTR Corporation Ltd (HK: 0066), a managing director of TPG, one of the world’s largest private equity firm, and a senior investment director of Morningside, the well known venture capital firm in China. Stephen also executed many successful IPOs in HK, US and Vietnam, and led the exits of his investment portfolio companies.

Stephen also contributes to the society in other fields in addition to finance, accounting and investments. He is a board member of Hong Kong Dance Company, a member of the Agricultural Park Advisory Committee, a board member of the CSK College Foundation, and a board member of SOW Asia, a charitable foundation which supports social enterprises through financial investments and accelerator program. He was an Adjunct Professor of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a member of the Investment Task Force of the Construction Industry Council. 

Stephen started his career with Arthur Andersen in the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and a Certified Public Accountant in Hong Kong. Stephen is a council member of the Hong Kong Business Accountants Association and a council member of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has also been appointed by the Ministry of Finance in Mainland China as an expert consultant.

Stephen promotes good corporate governance and ESG. He has initiated ESG and other value added committees. He is an independent director of CSPC Pharmaceutical Group Limited (HK: 1093), China Everbright Limited (HK: 165), China Galaxy Securities Co., Ltd. (HK: 6881), and Keymed Bioscience Inc.. (HK: 2162).

Roy Lo is responsible for various auditing and IPO projects at SW. He has extensive experience in auditing, business merging and acquisitions, business appraisal, profit anticipation and listing arrangement for 28 years, and is familiar with the operations and regulations of different industries. His projects are in the fields of Hi-tech, retail, environmental resources, digital media, property development, iron-steel production and construction in between Hong Kong and China.

Roy has been involved in numerous IPO projects, and has successfully assisted many companies to go listed on the Main Board and GEM of the HKEX. He also possesses profound experience in internal control and risk management. He regularly contributes articles on corporate governance and internal control to local newspapers and professional publications. He is also frequently invited by local media to comment on the related issues. He has been the compliance reviewer of the Best Corporate Governance Awards of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants consecutively from 2013–2022. He is also often invited to global corporate governance conferences.

Roy has exceptional insights into the China and Hong Kong market with global perspectives. He has extensive network in China and Hong Kong and has been working closely with different regulatory bodies and professional institutions across the regions. With his professional knowledge and expertise, Roy assumes the role of Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Association of Registered Public Interest Entity Auditors (PIEAA), Chairman of the Accountancy Training Board of Vocational Training Council, Honorary Court Member of Hong Kong Baptist University, Member of School Allocation Committee under Education Bureau of HKSAR Government and President and Founder of Accountancy Industry of Young Professionals Alliance. Roy was also the member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel of Financial Reporting Council from 2015-2018, and Divisional President 2019 – Greater China of CPA Australia.
